Lego Education has announced a new computer science and AI learning kit for K-8 students, scheduled to launch in April 2026. The new initiative seeks to modernize AI learning by moving away from screen only learning towards a more hands-on and collaborative environment where kids work in groups.

The new learning kit is meant to foster collaborative learning, designed for students to work in groups of 4. It also seeks to address the engagement gap of current AI learning tools. Teachers are of the opinion that current computer science tools are boring and unrelatable to students. The new kits combines physical Lego bricks with a digital coding canvas and even offer screen free lessons to keep students engaged.

The kit focuses on AI literacy, by recognizing that many schools are unprepared to teach AI, the curriculum focuses on “responsible AI”. It teaches children the workings of AI under the hood, focusing on safety, privacy and ethics. To ensure age appropriate learning Lego is releasing kits for 3 age brackets – K2, 3-5 and 6-8. The new kits marks Lego’s transition from the Lego Education Spike portfolio, which is being retired.

The kits will sell at $335.95, which roughly estimates to $85 per student. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to ensure that students don’t just consume technology, but also interact with it in a safe, social, classroom setting.

Get your hands on those kits and relieve your childhood moments with an upgrade in AI.
