Adam – the world’s first CAD AI agent

Adam AI CAD

What began as a master’s thesis at UC Berkeley, has now grown to a full scale app, that could fundamentally change how we design physical objects. Adam is an AI driven CAD (Computer Aided Design) platform built on the belief that creating 3D models shouldn’t require complex workflows.

Traditional CAD software is notoriously complex and requires a steep learning curve, creating a massive barrier between ideation to product. Leveraging experience at Adept (Amazon AGI), the founder Zach Dive, applied LLMs to CAD. Instead of manual clicking and dragging, Adam uses a chat interaface where users can generate 3D parts through natural language and simple parameter adjustments.

The intent was to lower the barrier to production. The initial goal was to make design playful and accessible. The model allowed users to quickly and effectively create products from scratch, just by using a chat interface, lowering the barrier for people interested in design.

The team is now raising the ceiling. The project is moving beyond simple prototypes. The team is developing an industrial grade tool that would handle design tasks end to end. By using text, images and technical drawings, Adam creates feature rich models directly within legacy software.

Adam aims to serve as a creative multiplier, shifting the focus from how to use a tool to how to build a product. It allows both hobbyists and professionals to focus on innovation rather than navigate complex software.
