Apple launches Invites app for events

Apple has launched a new iPhone app called Apple Invites, designed to simplify the process of creating and sharing personalized invitations for any kind of gathering. 1 The app allows users to design invitations, easily distribute them to guests, manage RSVPs, collaborate on Shared Photo Albums, and even share Apple Music playlists related to the event. 1 Apple Invites is available for download on the App Store and can also be accessed online at icloud.com/invites. While iCloud+ subscribers have the ability to create invitations, responding to invitations is open to everyone, regardless of whether they have an Apple ID or device.

According to Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, Apple Invites helps bring events to life from the initial invitation creation, and also allows users to preserve memories after the event concludes. He stated that the app combines familiar and popular features from iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, simplifying the planning of special occasions.

Apple Invites offers users a variety of ways to personalize their invitations. They can select a photo from their own library or choose from a pre-selected gallery of images categorized by occasion and theme. The app also integrates with Maps and Weather, providing guests with directions to the event location and the weather forecast for the event day. To further enhance the experience, Apple Invites allows for the creation of a dedicated Shared Photo Album for each event, enabling attendees to contribute photos and videos and preserve memories. Apple Music subscribers can also create collaborative playlists within the app, giving guests access to a curated soundtrack for the event. The invitation creation process is streamlined, with users prompted to name their event and select a photo, as illustrated by the iPhone 16 Pro interface. The app also displays the guest list and shared photo album for easy access and management.

Apple Intelligence simplifies the creation of personalized event invitations. Users can leverage the integrated Image Playground to generate unique visuals by inputting concepts, descriptions, and even incorporating people from their personal photo library. Furthermore, the Writing Tools feature assists users in crafting the perfect wording for their invitations, ensuring the tone and language are appropriate for the occasion.

Apple Invites gives hosts comprehensive control over their event invitations. Hosts can readily manage their events, distribute invitations via shareable links, track RSVPs, and customize the preview details, such as the background image or address. Guests can conveniently view and respond to invitations either through the new iPhone app or via the web, regardless of whether they have an iCloud+ subscription or even an Apple ID. Attendees maintain control over their shared information and have the option to leave or report an event at any point.

Beyond creating invitations with Apple Invites, iCloud+ subscribers enjoy a range of premium features. These include expanded storage for photos, videos, and files, accessible across devices and the web. 1 iCloud+ also offers Private Relay for private Safari browsing, Hide My Email for generating random email addresses, and HomeKit Secure Video for end-to-end encrypted home security footage. Subscribers can also personalize their iCloud email with custom domains. 2 Finally, Family Sharing allows up to five people to share an iCloud+ subscription at no additional cost. 3 Information on iCloud+ subscriptions, with plans starting at S$1.48, is available at apple.com/icloud.
