NVIDIA and Lumentum Holdings have entered into a major multiyear strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing the optical technologies essential for next-generation AI infrastructure. Lumentum is a global powerhouse in the photonics and optics industry. They leverage decades of experience to design and manufacture the high tech lasers and optical subsystems that form the backbone of modern computing technology.

Recognizing that optical interconnects are necessary for scaling AI data centers while balancing energy efficiency, NVDIA is making a significant financial investment into Lumentum to secure necessary components for its future systems.

The deal includes a multi-billion dollar purchase agreement for advanced laser components. The capital is specifically earmarked to bolster Lumentum’s research and development and to fund the creation of a manufacturing fab in the US.
