Radiant, a pioneer in the nuclear energy sector just closed a funding round to accelerate its nuclear technology.

Radiant is transitioning from large scale commercial manufacturing. The funds will be used to build an onsite factory that aims to produce 50 reactors annually by 2028. Radiant is preparing for the 2026 startup of its Kaleidos unit (a 1 MW microreactor) at the Idaho National Laboratory’s DOME facility.

The technology is designed for always on power efficiency, providing energy to critical industries such as disaster response and remote industrial sites. Who knows, Radiant may go on to power some of the remotest data centers.

Radiant’s 2025 milestones include securing a deal with digital infrastructure company Equinix, for 20 reactors. It became the first company to sign a contract with the DOE for High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) fuel. Radiant also scored well in the regulatory sector, getting key approvals for its nuclear safety design.

CEO and founder Doug Bernauer opines that developing micro-scale reactors will change the public’s impression of nuclear energy. From a dangerous industry to one that is clean and safe. The potential for microreactors is indeed a boost to the nuclear energy sector and the environment.
