Rasa Legal raises funds to provide record clearance services

Rasa Legal

Rasa Legal has just secured a funding round to scale access to justice. Rasa Legal is a mission driven tech company focused on making criminal record expungement simple and affordable. By combining AI driven eligibility tools, with a streamlined legal process, they help individuals in Utah, Arizona, and Pennsylvania clear their records and move toward nationwide expansion. Since 2022, the platform has helped 26000 people navigate the legal system, with 5000 successful clearances to date. Beyond legal aid, Rasa provides access to essential opportunities and resources in employment, housing, and healthcare, giving ex-inmates a second chance in life.

The investment will allow Rasa to expand its leadership team, accelerate product development and facilitate a nation-wide roll out of its services. Approximately 1 in 3 Americans have a criminal record, which creates significant barriers to employment, housing and education. Rasa provides a mobile-friendly eligibility tool that provides instant information on record expungement, streamlining the complex legal process. The platform also connects users to scholarships, healthcare, and “fair chance” hiring opportunities.

Research by the company shows that record clearance makes individuals 63% more likely to get an interview and can increase wages by over 20% within a year. The company plans to increase its geographic footprint, moving from just Utah, Arizona, and Pennsylvania to a nation wide rollout.

Rasa Legal has been recognized by the American Legal Technology awards as the “best new legal tech startup in America”. It has also been esteemed by the American Bar Association. Rasa Legal is also involved in community engagement, they have collaborated with NBA teams for record clearance clinics and works with employers to promote “fair chance” hiring.

Rasa’s app is a life saviour for Americans who have a criminal record. It is time that we show mercy to ex offenders and give them a second shot at live. It is prideful of us to think that we do not have any misdeeds, when everyone has in fact committed mistakes in our lives. Forgiveness is the balm of pain.
