Stanhope AI raises seed round to advance “Real world AI model”

Stanhope AI

Stanhope AI is a deep tech startup focused on bridging the gap between neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Co-founded by Prof Rosalyn Moran and Prof Karl Friston, the company utilizes Friston’s “Free Energy Principle” to develop a brain inspired model for autonomous technology. By mimicking the way the human brain processes information and uncertainty, their technology aims to provide machines with a more sophisticated biological approach to learning and decision making.

The London based startup recently raised a seed round, to advance its “Real World AI Model”, a framework designed to give machines biological agency. The company is moving away from static data sets and toward active inference.

Unlike the resource heavy LLMs that run in the cloud, Stanhope’s models are built for the edge. They are designed to be lean, efficient and explainable, making them ideal for on device applications such as robots, drones and industrial automation. By prioritizing real time adaptation over massive data crunching, Stanhope aims to bridge the gap between digital intelligence and reality, man and machine. The company is strongly supported by investors who see this as the next evolution of autonomous, resilient technology.
